For The One
This is the song that has been on repeat in my home.
In my head.
In my heart.
All week.
Help me to love with open arms like you do is a pretty loaded line.
When thinking on that particular thought you have to pause and soak up how Christ loved.
How God still loves.
How were Christ's arms open for loving?
There are so many great examples.
The one that comes to mind right away for me is the woman at the well.
We all long to be known.
And He truly knew her.
Even the parts she probably preferred to not be known. He offered her living water.
The thing she needed more than anything.
That's the thing about Jesus.
He offers us the thing we need more than anything. Living bread. Living water.
True life.
Himself.
When Jesus told the disciples to "Go, make disciples" He was explaining how we love with open arms.
When Jesus washed the disciples feet He showed them how we love with open arms.
When Jesus went away to a quiet place to be with His Father He showed us how we are capable to love with open arms.
His example was a constant revelation of how He loved, why He loved and His ability to actually be love.
My prayer is that in the midst of our everyday lives.
In our homes.
In our yards.
In our workplaces.
We will love with open arms.
We will tell of his goodness.
We will retreat to the Father.
We will be known.
We will make known.
And we will be knowers.
Just as He was.
Just as He is.
